Specialization: Clinical Psychology - track: Neuropsychology

 Aims of the specialization

The main aim of this specialization is to provide students with a solid foundation in the increasingly critical field of the brain and behaviour science. The specialization will give students the possibility to study relevant theories, current research as well as the clinical and experimental methods of  investigation. The specialization will consist of two main parts: clinical and experimental. The clinical module will help students to understand the problems of work with individuals with different brain dysfunctions. The experimental module will give the opportunity to learn about the most current methods of research in neuroscience.  The  students will also be given the opportunity to gain valuable practical experience in both clinical and experimental areas of research.

The specialization is relatively new, so the list of courses might be slightly modified. In order to finish the specialization, a student needs to complete all offered courses. The specialization might be smaller than 48 ECTS, therefore each student needs to remember to take courses from other specializations in order to complete the requirement of obtaining at least 48 ECTS from specialization courses.

Career opportunities:

As neuroimaging technology has become widely used, the knowledge on the brain and behaviour relationships is necessary for nearly every psychologist in every subfield of psychology. Thus graduates from the specialization will be provided with knowledge and skills suitable for working in many fields of psychology. The two most important are:
a) Clinics and hospitals (different units, eg. neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, geriatry)
b) Neuroscience labs
